"Inspecting Chinese Drywall"

What happened to the “Inspecting Chinese Drywall” Training Course for Inspectors? None of the links that I’ve tried will take me to the training video’s.

Nick,

I know that you guys are working hard on adding new education classes and certifications. It would be very nice if you could possibly consider adding a Chinese (defective, contaminated) drywall course that is actually a Certification with a seal. Chinese drywall is a big deal here in Florida and it would be a nice marketing tool. Thanks for all you do.

Well said.

I thought there was an article.

As a Home Inspector, I have a nact for finding things that most people overlook.

There use to be a 2 hour video on NACHI TV, Howard Ehrsam’s: Inspecting for Chinese Drywall](http://www.chinesedrywallscreening.com/Inspector_Training.html), worth (5 CEU’s).

I watched it a couple of Times before and now the video is gone.

Roy,

I have read that article.

yep ! Its gone.

Great video. I’m trying to get it back up.

Nick or Ben,

Any word on this? The more education and videos the better as far as Chinese (contaminated, defective) drywall is concerned.

Nick and Ben,

Any input on this? Also, the Chinese drywall video that was once available is not available anymore. Is something else coming down the pike? Thanks a lot for all you do.

There is not a currently approved protocol for reactive drywall testing approved by the state or any national testing agency…the approved protocol is remediation only, and Jeff G. Hooper helped write it.

For home buyers the ‘testing’ of drywall like mold sampling, once it is assumed the contamination exists, the particular details and wherewithal’s are meaningless. Besides, what buyer is going to be allowed to chop pieces out of a house they don’t own?

Follow the red flag protocols established by the state, if it fails there the house is suspect and the buyers will walk. This is as good as it gets for home inspectors.

Thanks Joe, that helps.

This is what I would include in a home inspection back when this was a hot topic.

Drywall Survey.pdf (29.5 KB)

Good thing you stopped, not all of the reactive material was from China…

Is the sky always falling?

Thanks for sharing this form. It is well laid out.

Nice layout Joe thanks!
