Understandably…it is crappy stuff. 🙄

It was easier when gas connectors were made out of brass. They look like CSST but they were not made out of stainless steel.

[Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing & Flexible Appliance Connectors](http://www.ashireporter.org/HomeInspection/Articles/Corrugated-Stainless-Steel-Tubing-Flexible-Appliance-Connectors/13613)

> [QUESTION](http://csstsafety.com/CSST-FAQs.html#faq17): What is the difference between CSST and flexible gas appliance connectors?
> ANSWER: CSST should NOT be confused with flexible gas appliance connectors – the product that joins a moveable appliance to your home or building’s gas supply line. The difference is flexible connectors attach directly to the moveable appliance from the wall or floor. CSST is usually routed beneath, through and alongside floor joists in your basement, inside interior wall cavities and on top of ceiling joists in attic spaces.

And the connections are different. An appliance connector has a fitted fitting generally with a male or female NPT adapter. CSST uses a connection that’s very similar to a nut and ferrule.
