I have chosen a photo regarding the proper handrail height for a residential stairwell. It shows the proper distance between 34 and 38 inches. It is also important to note that the railing should support at least 200 pounds of force in every direction.

Upon inspection of stairwell found broken handrail, this could cause someone to fall and doesn’t comply with recommended standards, I recommend repair of handrail as well as verifying wall has not been damaged where the handrail connected to the wall.

Upon reading the article, Shrinkage in Concrete, I found it interesting that what causes surface cracks in concrete is the water that is mixed with sand or concrete evaporates and can cause surface cracks which is ecpected and acceptable as these cracks are just in the top layer of the concrete.

This photo shows the vertical rails on the stairs to be under 4 inches and would not allow a sphere with a diameter of 4 inches to pass through. The risers also measured adequate height and spacing to now allow a sphere of four inches to also not pass through. The rails were also of adequate height, had a grip, and were continuous.

The article I read discussed the advantages of using solar energy. While it does have some flaws, the upside greatly outweighs by a large margin. While renewable resources can become scarce, the amount of solar energy that can be harnessed is more than humans could ever need and use. It is also low emission, creates green jobs, and it is extremely reliable.
