Commercial building, 6230 sq ft. part of the electric service is pictured here, my question is look at the down spout above the conduit leading to the box. Is this ok or should I call it out? I know that the conduit is for outside use but still you have a down spout that is putting water on the electric service.
It’s a $10 fix…I’d just recommend extending the downspout to the ground. With the unprotected wires showing at the panel then the downspout is probably not the biggest issue though .
If you look at that picture closely and blow it up a little, you will see that the conduit coming out of the Disconnect is EMT, I could see the coupling.
There appears to be one on the vertical also.
They are compression connectors, but it’s not clear from the pics if they’re being used with EMT, IMC, or RMC. There are special “rain tight” compression connectors available now, but when this installation was done, they probably weren’t available. Compression connectors of the garden variety are notorious for leaking.
Jeff; I think noteing that the downspout diverter 90 should be extended so as to not produce excessive moisture on the electrical componets of the service entrance and provide water to wash your car at the same time.
What do you think? ha. ha.
Hey, I like that Darwin Award thingy, I got to look into it. Maybe on to something here. Already found a list and thought it was ammusing. ha. ha.
