Last minute inspections

Got a call at 1:00 today from a guy that really wanted a last minute inspection. I was at a diner eating and my cell phone rang.

The guy asked if I could do a last minute inspection for him. I said sure and asked which day. he said 4:00pm today. I was sort of take aback a bit, but said sure where’s it at…he says Hudson, WI which is about 3 1/2 hours away from me. I told him I wished I could but there was no way I could get there in time as I couldn’t make it until around 6:00pm…

He said it was ok…he had already booked an inspection with someone else, but was surfing the internet and liked my website and wanted to switch inspectors.

I wished I could have helped him, as I could use the work, but it made me feel good about my website. icon_smile.gif

Joe & Todd -

I'm redoing some things on my own web site. One of the things I'll be doing is adding links to inspectors in other parts of the country. I'm told it helps improve my sites web standing with the search engines.

When I do, I'll be looking for the pickiest most thorough inspectors in those areas. Inspectors that are hard-hitting and don't live under a realestators arm-pit. Guys that don't spend 1.5 hours on an inspection and don't brag about 4-5 jobs a day. Guys that charge an arm and a leg for their services and guys that have got lots of training & experience. Guys that never even consider for a second, if what they're saying will alienate the real estate sales person.

I could care less what organization they do or don't belong to. Some of those guys will be ASHI, some will be NAHI, some will be NACHI and some will not be affiliated with anything. I've met many of these guys over the years and I trust them to be

I think this may be the same reason that Kevin puts links to other inspectors on his web site.

Dan,

I am sure you can find what you are looking for without leaving the NACHI ranks.

Those inspection companies have agreed to link exchange with me. So they also have a NACHI inspector (ME) on their website. It’s just to increase the ranking of my site through search engines…

I had a post here asking people if they wanted to do a link exchange…only got a few responses here at NACHI, so I went on inspectionnews.com and asked there also.

I know some where on this BB Kevin offered to post links to his site for links on there’s. I really hope this fighting between the organizations stops soon.

Ok Kevin I understand. I just added you to my usefull links.

I will add any other NACHI member on request as long as they are not in the same service area as someone that I already link to.

Kevin I am sorry I missed your offer. This is a great idea!!!

Do you see anywhere it says “recommended inspectors from other states?” it says Link Exchange. That’s the only idea.

Oh…that thing at the top of my website???..that’s just a moneymaker from google…it’s called google adsense. You get $$ for each click. Thanks for the clicks by the way. I have no control over what ads appear on that. It’s random chance as to what ads appear…google crawls my site, figures out what type of site it is and puts in random ads based on my website content.

Just type in adsense in google search and you’ll see the link at the top.

google can walk you thru the rest.

I really am thinking of pulling it as it ticks me off that they have home inspector things on a home inspector site...they should have real estate things.
I wrote them and told them it was a waste as #1 I don't want competition ads, and #2 Inspectors don't browse my site...people that buy homes browse my site so you should be targeting them...they wrote back that the crawler makes the decisions based on website content.....Sounds like a futuristic movie when computers start doing our thinking for us! ![icon_evil.gif](upload://1gvq2wV2azLs27xp71nuhZOKiSI.gif)

You can go in and block certain ads from appearing, but that's a pain.
I don't think it's worth it. In a month and a half I've earned $8.25. Google doesn't pay until you reach $100.
