I inspected a new home about one month ago. There was a natural draft gas water heater in the master bedroom closet. The closet door was a builder’s cheapo without any gasket to seal the door (make up air ports present)


I called out the installation to be reviewed the AHJ AND a licensed plumber. (don’t know if anyone did review).


Two days ago, the same realtor told me that the town gave the c/o.
What gives? besides $$$ in someone's pocket

Is there a higher AHJ I can contact?

You did your job. Observe, Report and leave it at that.


If it's not corrected properly and someone gets hurt or dies of CO poisoning, you simply reported it already.

Don't dwell on whether or not defects were corrected. You did the right thing by advising your client and reporting it. Just let it go.
