What next?
How about a whirlpool tub standards of practice committee. Or a condo standards of practice committee.
There is an existing SOP committee. I know of no other. Thgis should have been run through proper channels.

Joe - I submitted the log home info as a rough draft, not knowing that there is an SOP committee. Now that I’ve seen your message, I went to the “Contact NACHI” page and I saw the committee with you as chairman. I’m sorry that this didn’t happen in the right order.
At this point, I suggest that members can send comments about log homes, suggestions for the SOP, etc, to you or to me, or post them to this message thread. Then when the comments have slacked off, then the SOP committee can put the info into its final form. How does that sound?

I have built many log homes and there is so much to consider that I also would like to see a course that those of us that desire so could learn about inspecting log homes. I also built many houses but that didn't necessarily qualify me to inspect them.

I’m not sure that a log home requires an addendum to the SOP. NACHISOP is pretty much in-line with all other major HI associations. Granted, it could always be improved, but I am not sure that ammending the SOP for one type of construction is warranted. The SOP is GENERIC, and deals withthe inspection concept, and systems wyhich should be inspected.
I agree that a course may be a better way to go. The draft was nicely produced, by the way.
