I would note that you generally do not need to completely flush the tank of the water heater. More often I have found it may only take a gallon pail or or two to see clear water discharge. Most of the sediment settles and is sitting on the bottom or lower portion of the tank.
The other point being - perhaps a caveat when dealing with older tanks, where there may be an issue resealing the drain. Some have been known to not properly reseal.
Just a few points to consider.
