I have been in business less than 1 year and average between 1 and 3 inspections weekly. I have reached this point by cold calling and visiting realtors with my materials while dropping off gifts like pens and snacks. I am weighing the ideas of yellow pages or web site. I can only go with one of them. Yellow pages in this area are very expensive and there are both Bell and Sprint in my area which means twice the price. Any thoughts on which would be the better tool to get to the next level?

My experience is that the website is at least 10x more valuable than the Yellow Pages ad. I have a $1,000 Yellow Pages ad that, to my knowledge, has only led to one inspection over the last year. I will not renew again next year. If your budget only allows for one then I’d definitely spend the money on a website long before a Yellow Pages ad. However, remember that different areas of the country get different results.

for a fact that the YP is how folks find their H.I.'s in your area. I don’t think I’d take your local YP sales representative’s word for it, unless he or she is willing to show you some hard numbers (which they either can’t, or won’t).
