Folks,
I am in the middle of a debate over means of egress. NFPA 101 2015 Chapter 7 Means of Egress
7.2.1.3.4 - Excerpt: Raised thresholds and floor level changes in excess of 1/4 in. (6.3 mm) at door openings shall be beveled with a slope not steeper than 1 in 2.
This issue came up during a fire inspection where 300 units apartment is being cited because some homeowners raised their floors during floor installation and the contractors simply decided to cut the bottom of the doors.
If I am reading this right, instead of cutting the bottom of the doors, they should have simply installed a beveled threshold with a slope not steeper that 1 in 2". Am I reading this right?
