  3. C: The side mount is less likely to filled by a cooking spill. But a cord dangling from such an outlet could lead to an active applicable being dragged off the countertop.

  4. Dangling electrical wires, and wire unprotected from damage by future work. Warrants immediate professional corrective action.
    Condition of subfloor and joists in the area require additional investigation.

The correct answer is C True, because the defect would only apply to newer installations installed under the 2023 NEC. Only about a quarter of the states in the USA have adopted the 2023 NEC so for all of the others or existing installations under prior code cycles the receptacle in the side of the island of peninsula is actually required. Since it’s required it cannot be a defect.
