Meter base glass covering

The glass covering is not sealed. How significant is this? I’ve been calling for it to be corrected in my reports.

Typically meter enclosures have drainage slots in the bottom so if water were to enter the enclosure it would drain out. I have never seen a cover that has a gasket so IMO it’s not a problem.

A good question, I would call the local electric utility and ask their metering dept.

Around here the can is the owner’s responsibility.
I’d call it out and that it is rusting.

Thank you for all your replies.

Why bother mentioning it…the thing is scheduled to be replaced with a smart meter soon no doubt.

Around here the ones not replaced are most likely paying a fine for not allowing it .
