Hi to all,
I would always write up missing casings as in need of further evaluation, it is normlly a good sign that someone other than a professional has ben "fixing" the system.

I would write it up… potential safety hazard, will allow dirt/dust/debris… your cat could fall in… any number of things… that is why the cover them… worth writing up!
