More guessing fun with images

Any guess on what this is?
and don’t spoil it Chuck! :stuck_out_tongue:
Picture was taken shooting an outside wall in a stairwell to the basement.

Looks like my ferret.

Is that before or after he farted

Blown in insulation that has settled to the bottom of wall cavity?

it’s a varmint. Squirrel or rat?

Looks like settled insulation.

sasquatch?

It is settled but its batt insulation. Why has batt insulation settled or fallen?
Heres another hint.

Not sure why from the outside pick. I was thinking not properly secured during install, but now I’m curious what your conclusion is.

Actually, studying it a little closer… Looks like water intrusion from the roof into the stone wall. Weighting down the insulation with water.

Agree

Wall tested dry from the inside.

OK Chuck you can chime in now.

You’re both right but why did the wall test dry???

vapor barrier is on the inside, next to wall finish

Cause you didn’t probe deep enough or soon enough…

That’s an expensive looking shaq.

Yes it was. I saw the insualtion before anything else. It was raining so I started inside first.

Pushed on the wall outside and the whole thing moved.
I came back out to re-inspect later and got to see the leftovers of garden mulch in a pile.
So much for tyvek being a good source of water barrier.

Nice find! Does that roof on the opposite side actually terminate INTO the wall?
