If the phone number you have listed in http://www.nachi.org/profileintro.htm directs staff to an answering machine or answering service that answers as a home inspection business... that will suffice as still being active and no message will be left.
Members might notice a small decline in our state-by-state/province-by-province stats this week... this next phase of operation deadwood is the reason.

Exactly. Gary and I are going back through NACHI’s entire list of 1/2 baked projects like this one and the library and rebuilding/strengthening them all. We are trying to slow expansion and instead improve all areas of NACHI.

Nick,
Just make sure when they call and happen to get my machine (which is rare) that they leave a message. I HATE when people call and don’t leave messages.

If you’ve been following www.nachi.org/nachi-stats.htm you will notice that despite new members pouring in in record numbers, our membership has declined slightly this week.
This is because we are calling every member and confirming they are willing and able to perform inspections, and deleting those that are not active.
I can't tell you how sad it is for me to find out how many of our members have died. Yes, literally passed on.
Does anyone know any stats about the death rate? In other words... on average 1 in 100 people die each year, or 1 in 50, or what?

No one who has joined in 2005 or 2004 (fresh members) is even getting called as we assume they are still around. For instance, if you joined last week, you won’t get a call from staff to see if you are still inspecting. Nor are we calling members who recently renewed… obviously.

They are getting so many consumer hits it's scary.
For instance... Amazon's www.alexa.com now has www.FindanInspector.US (our one page lead generator) traffic ranking some 200,000 websites ahead of NAHI's (not NACHI's) ENTIRE SITE! It's wild!

I was wondering how in the world the staff was going
to make 5,000 phone calls in one week

Is this still going on or has all of the “Deadwood” been cleaned?
There are many inspectors listed on findaninspector for Texas who have yet to pass the state exam. This is actually quite serious. TREC does not allow anyone to advertise as an inspector if they are not licensed by the state. I think we need someone to verify if members are actually licensed if their state requires it.
