It will never be a merger at this point. We’ll consider taking them over but why really? We don’t need them and their members are free to join here if they want anyway. What would we pick up? Numbers? We’re growing at the right pace on our own.

Nick,

Are you going to buy ASHI?

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Best regards,

I don't think that the real estate agents who own them are willing to sell. ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

At a recent Realtors convention, where NACHI had a booth, there was also a booth for the two other organizations.

The NACHI guys manning the booth walked around and checked out all the other booths, including those of the two other groups.

They were both kind of condecending, believeing that we were beneath them. We mentioned our plans for a complete suite of state approved CE classes that NACHI members (regular chapter members of any Illinois NACHI Chapter) could attend for only the lunch money. This perled up some ears.

Around here, most CE courses are offered through the other associations, are pretty costly ($195 for 6 hours, our state requires 12 hours for each 2 yerar license term), and these offered courses are real snorers, much easier than most pre-licensing courses.

In any case, I also got to talk to a couple of people from the state agency that approves CE courses and also mentioned our plans. They said that they hoped that the courses would be challanging, and I agreed whole heartedly! They said that they would look forward to our submitting them.

Funny, some of the other association guys came to our booth, after their booth manning shifts were over, and asked us all about the courses.

Education is the key!

I think that Nick’s offer to buy NAHI (assuming U.S. Inspect is willing to sell) is nothing more than a ploy to get Ed Porter back into the association for comic relief. icon_lol.gif It would be fun to get him back so that we can throw him out again.

Ok…I am the newbie to the boards but when chosing a organzation I wanted to work hard for and help furthur be it in the education part with regards to electrical or NEC or pushing my local legislation to accept NACHI members to meet the requirment ( behind the scene which is why I post the legal issues questions…some thing I just want to know…but it is for a purpose and I print all response…nick know what I am doing )

For one I will say just look at this site and wonder why to join.....all the FREE stuff, free listings, they even pay for you sign if you start a charter location and man you name it....talk about support.

Now.......in this message board...heck I charge $ 395.00 for my NEC class in VA.......and heck we post here answers to questions for free to help better educate inspectors...heck I am going to start posting a question and answer post......even if Nick does not give me permission...lol....sorry nick....inspectors want to know Electricity in the basics...basic math not millihenrys ( jab to Mr. Terry...lol )

Anyway.......I have looked at the others and seen what they have to offer and in my opinion even ASHI does not have to offer what the NACHI has to offer in support and just plan information...I mean look at the main index page and you head will burst....

Anyway.....I dont know it all in electrical but I know alot and willing to help this and only one other forum which I am a MOD at and they are DIYers......they NEED me...lol....trust me...they DO.....God Love Um...

But when considering a organization I have to say on the surface I like Nicks from the hip honesty....it goes a LONG way with someone like me and I have chatted with him in e-mails and you know he takes the personal time to answer them......truly amazing and an asset to an organzation.

But beyond that..........just the plain source of information, heck they have education buses and well you name it as resources if you want them so how can you go wrong.

Paul;

You have to learn to take Nick with a pound of salt. He is not an inspector or a business person or an organization person. He is a marketer. As such, he sometimes looses touch with reality.

Just make sure you check on anything important he says. Check with John and Joe and Blane.

JUst hoping that you can avoid that little stumblking block that some of us had to learn about the hard way.

yeah…I know and it is true my post looked like a marketing ad also…lol…I guess I am not asking a whole bunch from the NACHI actually( except an outlet and the PIA was nice ). Heck I am just a bored old Inspector ( opps: Evaluator ) and Electrician who simply has come to the conclussion that with all the information offered by NACHI on the website alone…they have to be striving to be helpful to its members and every ORG has its issues or it’s figure head…icon_smile.gif

Thanks my brother........I will read with caution....![icon_smile.gif](upload://b6iczyK1ETUUqRUc4PAkX83GF2O.gif)

Don’t get me wrong. I have membered with NACHI and have no regrets, and quite a few thanks.

Churchill (Winston, not Ward) said "Democracy is the worst form of governement, except for all the rest". No group or organization is perfect, but NACHI suits me, serves me and its members are who I proudlychoose to be affiliated with and serve.

Hope this helps.
