So if this sytem works the way explained, why would an inspector 47 miles away, ALWAYS show up in the #1 position for a major town 7 miles away from me? He’s only a few miles from a much larger town!??

Perhaps I should change my zip codes to cover bigger towns in more counties. So instead of a 60 mile radius, I develop a 120 mile radius. Yeah! That's the ticket!!

Larry,

The system is based on the 20 zip codes you supply. It doesn't matter where your physical office is (often an inspector's home)--it's where you work. If the inspector, who may live 47 miles away, has put your zip code in as one of his or her 20 zip codes, they'll come up as an exact match.

This has always been the case. The upgrade to the system now means that no one will always have the #1 spot. Each potential client will see a differently sorted list of inspectors.

Great job icon_biggrin.gif

However If someones IP remains the same, like most DSL or cable users they will always get the same list. OK for the random homeowner. But this says a Realtor will always see the same person on top of the list.

Hind sight is always 20/20 In the revision can it be a combination of IP and date. This would change the list each day for any given IP.

Still think it is a GREAT JOB ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

Forgive me Chris…

It is a great job you’ve done. Didn’t mean to whine icon_redface.gif

So, if I understand correctly; if I punch up the same zip code 3-4 times a day evry day, I'll always see the other HI in the #1 position. But if someone else enters the same zip code, they may see my name in the #1 position at different times. Correct?

Chris I know it can't be easy keeping track of all the web site changes and adding new programs. Do you ever get help when you need it?

Great job!

I guess I don’t understand because every time that

I type in any zip in my area and type in 50 or so miles

the same order comes up every time

??

I have been a member for 3 or more years and some
new members (within 1 month or so) comes up
before me. That isn't right

I’m with Carla. I see the same thing happening. The order is the same every time i type it in with the same names above mine every time. That isn’t right at all, but it explains why i don’t even get a wiff of anything off those sites.

Robert,

Excellent point. I've just modified the results to take the day of the year into consideration. I've also modified the code to give preference to a "resident" in the case where two people serve the same zip code.

Carla/Adam,

The same list will come up for you all of today. Tomorrow you will get a different list. The next day you will get a different list, et cetera. You won't always be at the top, but you should be on the top just as much as everyone else. In the case of the zip code that your office is in, you will be at the top more often than others.

There are three NACHI inspectors that reside in my zip code. I do not believe one of them is in business anymore. That leaves two. Other inspectors who do not reside in this area code come up WAY before I do. I was. like, 5th last night.

Also, the next zip code is much closer to me than that of another town. Yet, inspectors in that town come up first. Again, this is not how the search engine should work.
