NACHI only requires its members to carry E&O insurance if their state/province requires it. There is some confusion about what is required in each state. NACHI now has a State/province E&O insurance update section. Please proof and keep us apprised of any E&O insurance requirements in your area. Thanks.

Virginia has no license requirement and no insurance requirement either, UNLESS, one refers to oneself as either a “certified” Inspector or as performing “certified” inspections. Insurance required is $250k liability coverage only - no E&O req’d.

There is no requirement to become "certified" by the State to perform inspections.

My Legal Beagle says it's OK to say one is a Member of NACHI, Just not "certified" until one is "Virginia Certified".

Iowa and Nebraska both have pending legislation:

Iowa ? HF162

Nebraska - LB767

Both bills have been on hold since last year ? both are being brought back this legislative session.
