How was it powering a ceiling fan? Those are 300 ohm antenna connections as Roy pointed out in his post. They may have been hooked up to 20 gauge speaker wire as you say. They may also have had 120v across them, but they are an open circuit voltage so how did you determine they were powering a ceiling fan? Your DMM could still have been reading a ‘ghost’ voltage.

Look I’m not going to get into a debate on a simple image and asking what it was and how it was powered. I had a long day with my inspections and I have another long day tomorrow and the remainder of the week.
Second, why would I use a sniffer to get voltage? (Ghost) Voltage. I think someone likes to argue and …

So you don’t have any valid information for this thread. Just a hit and run. Your post is riddled with errors and assumptions. Can’t imagine why anyone would want you to do an inspection. You expect help but refuse to answer basic questions.
