The article doesn’t mention feeders or taps. In my experience, home inspectors incorrectly call out taps as defects much more often than they do with overcurrent protection or conductors serving HVAC equipment.
As the article mentions, determining conductor or breaker ratings is outside the scope of a home inspection. Having a broader understanding of a subject than is needed in practice is a good thing, but having a little knowledge of a subject and misapplying that knowledge is a bad thing. Home inspectors need to understand the difference.
InterNACHI would doing the entire inspection community a favor by reinforcing the fact that no home inspection SOP in North America puts the burden of evaluating or determining adequacy of design for any system in a home. Code-compliance-wannabe inspectors do almost as much damage to home inspection as ASHI has done. They are making a mockery of the trade and fools of themselves.
