New Mexico Licensing Any Current Info

Hi All,
I have been asked about licensing a few times recently. Any current info. My search yielded 2 old posts. 2011 and 2015.

The Home Inspector Licensing Act takes effect Jan. 1, 2020. (More in article.)

Jeff Gorum senior heads the local NM chapter. He was involved with the legislation, or at least monitoring it. I would talk to him, he will have inside info.

If you are a new inspector looking to be licensed in New Mexico, you can complete InterNACHI’s CPI program for pre-licensing education. Right now they are accepting any pre-licensing education program that has been approved in another state (InterNACHI’s CPI program has been approved as pre-licensing in other states and therefore qualifies). They may eventually begin individually approving programs for NM (and InterNACHI would seek approval), but they’re not at that point yet. You’ll also need to take the National Home Inspector Exam in order to obtain a license for the first time.

If you are an inspector looking to be grandfathered in, keep an eye on this channel (Legislation, Licensing, Ethics & Legal Issues - InterNACHI®️ Forum) for the next proctored session of the Online Home Inspector Exam.
