No equipment ground

I appreciate the discussion and would like your opinion(s). After installing a GFCI in place of a non grounded outlet, what is your preference for installing additional three prong, non grounded outlets that offer the GFC protection (properly labeled) on the same circuit? OR just stay with the two prong outlets on the downstream outlets. Thanks in advance

IMO, if you’re going to go through the trouble of installing a GFCI on an ungrounded outlet, you may as well have your electrician install grounding outlets downstream. It’s not just a question of the intended purpose of the outlets, but the potential use or misuse of them as well.

If someone wants to plug a piece of equipment that requires a ground into the 2 prong outlet they will do one of two things: break the ground prong off or use an adapter. Or better yet, have your electrician ground the outlets.

+1 on that. But also note this is a solved problem, but there’s a patent fight over the solution. With the fix if line and load are mixed up the device won’t function at all.
