Basically, it spills over the edge of the cabinet if/when the primary becomes obstructed.


If there is no "built in" auxiliary pan, this external pan is required.

That rusting you see below the pressure line and the pan below tells me that the insulation tubing is not installed right up to the shell of the air handler.

I always tell my client to add additional insulation to the pressure line to prevent condensate dripping. I'd also recommend they remove the aluminum tape at that area, so the insulation can penetrate the housing.
