I was asked if a non-conforming basement bedroom could be added if it were sprinkled? It’s a walkout basement, and the walkout exit is a living room. The bedroom door would be 15 feet away from the exit. There’s no windows other than in the living room area.
Not in any areas that i know , the second means of egress is also needed for rescue not only a exit in the event of a fire . You should check with you local building inspector .
