To me, "a GFCI tester" means just that, something which "tests" GFCIs, and the GFCI test button does that, and does it well.
I believe the intent was to require "testing" the GFCI, and the most accurate and reliable "test" is with the "tester" built into the GFCI device.
To each their own, though.
(And no, I am not giving you my SureTest just because I also like the test buttons. ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif) )
