nut and animals??

Hi all,

I inspected a cool room in a house. Once I opened the door, I saw this issue (pictures). http://www.flickr.com/photos/109884244@N04

I am wondering what the hell are they, nut…animal wastes? Is a squirrel or raccon living in the house and left nut on the insulation in the cool room. Please advise.

Walnuts gathered by squirrels for their winter food supply .
We call them Tree rats in my area.

But, I checked all around the house. I can’t find any hole to get into the house.

But I had checked all the exterior, I didn’t see any holes to get into the building.
