The NY Fed is testing out their new CBDC. A central bank digital currency (CBDC) that isn’t backed by gold is no different than the currency we have now which is created by the central bank, digital, and backed by nothing. The central bank can still debase it (decrease its purchasing power) by creating more with the push of a button. Both are fiat currencies. Don’t be tricked.
