I believe that in some states, if you live in a right-to-work state, a requirement of being a member of an association to do business or have a license to do business is against the law, as in Kansas.
It’s not a legal requirement, it is a requirement of a private trade association. The National Association of REALTORs is a private trade association, like InterNACHI is.
