Oil furnace presure help

This oil pressure gauge was on an oil furnace. It was running well, but how do I know it this is good pressure? I cant find and answer anywhere.

Was it operating satisfactorily?

It sounds like it was. That’s your job…stay in your lane…you’re done.

The gauge is for vacuum (HG) not pressure. Not sure what you are looking for psi wise.

I did HVAC many years back but I was mostly boilers, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

My understanding is that the vacuum should be -10-15 in hg. Higher(greater vacuum) and it starts to foam, lower(closer to atmo) and you’ve got a leak that’s sucking air somewhere.

That said, the burners and oils these days are different, so I’m going by old information.

Unless there is a Service Label available to show recent servicing, refer it out for a FULL Maintenance Service from a qualified Oil Furnace Tech. This should be performed annually, and most people just don’t have it performed as long as it still provides heat. Proper maintenance is key with these units.
I wonder what your client would prefer… 1) Maintenance, 2) Repairs, 3) Replacement??

Good advice, with electrodes, ignitors, nozzles, filters, etc. that need cleaning/replacement on top of the usual tests and checks for any furnace.

Thank you all. I appreciate your help. When I was asked about it by the client I was honest and told him I haven’t seen this gauge before but oil pressure on other burners has hovered around 100 psi. I told him I would get bag to him and probably add it in the report. I did let him know due to its age he should have it serviced soon and the technician would be able to provide more details about his specific model.
Thanks again.
