One of our members said he paid ASPREI $24,000.00 and is not happy. Anyone had good or bad experiences with them? I never heard of them. I’m a life member of SPREI, but I never heard of ASPREI.
$24,000.00! Maybe we should raise NACHI’s $289 dues…
Hi Nick,
I have heard of then before, they are based up in Vermont, I thought tey had dissappeard but it appears they are still around.
Regards
Gerry
How in the world does someone get taken for 24k?
All the members fit in one photo.
The web site looks like it was thrown together in an afternoon with very little thought.
Also if you look at the html code for their list of members by state you can tell that the member info does not pull from a data base but is hard written directly into the code of the page.
Can’t do a memebr search by any other parameters other than state.
humm… I hope they don’t mean that poorly scanned image that is on their own web site.
The orginial Mircrosoft team had a lot less than that and look at them today.
Well at least we don’t have to worry about this particular company in Ontario. There appears to be no Canadian members.
I tried the Annual Meeting link at bottom, it is dead.
24 k for what?
Exactly.
I received a second similar complaint after posting this. I am asking them to come forward on this message board. They are consulting with their attorneys first. I hope to have them here soon to explain what happened. It is quite amazing.
It appears they are infringing on our Trademarked professional designations too. See last line in http://www.asprei.com/Ethics.htm Their email bounced back.
I don’t think this outfit is anything to worry about:

I hate to say it but, who in the hell would give that lame *** outfit 24k? That’s got to be one of the sorriest looking website I’ve ever seen.
You can’t even say *** on this board.
Most boards have that restriction.
As to the infringement, it says the last update was in 2001.
Proffesissional.
Hmmm…very professional.
I am curious as well.
Looks like they have established use of their credentials since at least January 2001.
I recall an article written by the president of ASPREI some years back pertaining to the ownership of the inspection report. I believe this was in something from FREA, but we’re talking somewhere back around 2001 or 2002.
His claim or argument was that the other associations (ASHI and NAHI were mentioned) are incorrect by believing that the client is the owner of the report. His argument was that the report is the intellectual property of the inspector that did the due diligence to compile and write its contents. I found it to at least be an interesting argument.
This is from their COE, posted on their web site; Like the similar disciplines of engineering and architecture, the inspector owns the work product, the report.
24k would be about 80 years of dues. WTF??
Nick
THE ITALIAN’S HAVE THE RIGHT IDEA IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS THEY BLAME THE VICTIM LOGIC BEING YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER.SOUNDS HARSH FOR FELLOW NACHI MEMBERS,BUT I HAVE TO AGREE WITH GREG ON THIS ONE, HOW THE HELL DOES ONE GET TAKEN FOR $24 K FROM A MICKY MOUSE OPERATION LIKE THIS? BY THE WAY I CALLED THE NUMBER LISTED,AN ANSWERING SERVICE WAS TAKING MESSAGES FOR 'ALLSTATE HOME AND ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTION’S
P.S.I’M THINKING IT WAS A FRANCHISE TYPE DEAL!!
Well I’m new to this whole message board thing, but I have been reading and studing the NACHI message board now for the past several weeks - I gotta tell you - this is the best thing out there!
I counted about 40 members listed on the website, so $24,000 divided by 40 maybe?
Email address FYI: asprei@advancelook.net
Thanks for all the good post, it’s just going to keep getting better and better.
