Yes, PA has a law which requires all PA inspectors to carry $500,000.00 worth of E & O and join a national inspection association (like NACHI) that is non-profit and has members in more than 10 states. ASHI setup the Pennsylvania Home Inspection Coalition which is trying to snooker new-to-the-industry inspectors out of $24,000.00 each. Visit their web site at www.PHIC.info. I contacted ASHI headquarters just in case PHIC was just a loose cannon. Seems ASHI is not objecting to one of its chapters doing this to new inspectors. Legislatures in PA tried to stop ASHI/PHIC’s mentoring program fees by getting an ammendment thru the house lowering the 100 inspection minimum to zero. NACHI is only choice in PA for the new inspector…unless of course he’s rich.
