Patrick Dacey, NACHI member, SouthWest Inspections, recently sent me these photos of this interesting arrangement that he took during a mobile home inspection in June. Both wiring arrangements are located within the crawl space of a doublewide mobile home. The outlet and box were found directly below the water heater and the ?web of wires? was located below the two halves of the trailer.

These wiring arrangements violate the requirements of Chapter 3 and 550.3, which states, ?Wherever the requirements of other articles of this Code and Article 550 differ, the requirements of Article 550 shall apply.?

Joe thats a typical crossover connection used commonly here, must be too hard to put them in a box that was to small or the one they ran out of that day, A common statement used when reporting this , It passed by the local building inspector , I figure they must think what the heck HUD passed it in the factory it must be ok, besides the pest guy,who would go under there any way

Joe,

Thanks for the credit on the pictures.

This house was located out in the county. Not subject to any city inspections. The open outlet box was located directly below the water heater closet, which by the way did not have an emergency drain pan underneath.

The other picture is of the connections between the two sections of house. If you look closely, some of the connections have duct tape around them.
