Performing a Roof Certification

Has anyone performed a roof certification? If so, How “official” is a roof cert and why would anyone request that vs the 4 point and wind Mitigation? I’m being requested to perform one coming up and all I can think to do is study and watch YouTube videos but there’s nothing on InterNACHI specifically regarding roof certifications.

I do then every week. A roof certification is basically just the roof section of the four point. Usually insurance companies will ask for one if they believe the roof is over 20 or 25 years and nearing or at the end of its useful life. They need this inspection to not cancel the policy. And they are not necessarily switching policies which is why a four point and wind mit is not always required.

Yes, I have done a couple, and I just use the 4 point form. Otherwise, you can use a generic roof certification form, but I have never had anybody complain

The question remaining useful life (years),
don’t forget to say 4 years (or whatever) estimated.
If they don’t see minimum of 3 or 4 may not offer coverage.
