My attached garage (insulated and drywalled and into a hill on 2 sides) has not dropped below 45-50 in the 4 years I’ve been here but I think I would like more freeze protection or drainability if I had a similar pipe running out in the garage.

An average winter temperature of 41° F is common for most parts of Tennessee, but it can get as cold as 30 F. which is freezing temps.
I doubt the garage would get that cold in TN but that is JMHO.

John, I see pex to freeze proof hose bibs all the time, but the hose bib needs to be screwed to the exterior, for support.
