1908 house has an add-on bathroom with a ceiling light/fan/heater combo. In the attic the exhaust exited through the roof fine but he hose is plastic flex clothes dryer type. Considering this has a heater involved, is this something to write up? Or regardless?

There is also heat involved if that hose was on a dryer, isn’t there?

Even without a heater, rigid metal is required around here for bath/kitchen exhaust fan .

As long as it is propperly vented, then it may just be a question of it is a best practice on the materials used.

Not a major problem but condensation within the pipe is the issue. If the pipe has low spots, or since it is ribbed, it can have the moisture in the air condense. The cold attic air condenses it quite rapidly and the pools of water can leak or grow mold. I recommend using smooth pipe and insulating ducts.

I seldom see it done but in a perfect world it should be insulated.

The plastic flex is all that is used around here.

We’re lucky to find any hose here, and you can bet it won’t head outside if we do!! icon_lol.gif
