I’ve never seen flashing like this? Is this an acceptable product??
It looks similar to a product called Flex-Flash. Not sure if it’s appropriate for window’s manufacturing installations requirements.
The Marvin windows I installed in my own home had an integral vinyl (or whatever the material is) drip cap. Seems to be holding up well after about 18 years.
Afternoon, Cory. Hope to find you well.
Material cap flashing Acceptability is one thing.
Cap flashing Installation is another. That cap flashing is clearly too short in the top image. As will no cap flashing side return.
From my immediate recollection, drip caps flashing are required only with flanged window installations, not insert windows.
To ensure intended performance, **the lower edge of the drip cap should lap ¼-inch over the trim it’s protecting and, for best results, should include an outward kick . That additional bend in the drip cap ensures water drips off the edge of the metal rather than being drawn behind it.
