I have not always agreed with Nick’s choices…nor he, with mine…but in 8 years of active participation I have never known him to pass over any resource (no matter how vile or unpopular) to advance this organization, and he has succeeded beyond anyone’s expectations.

ASHI is dying and the fleas are looking for another dog. Among the 2600 or so fleas, Nick will find and use a few that can help members be better inspectors.

ASHI and NAHI certainly suck, as organizations…and these people did little to keep ASHI afloat…but if ASHI had Nick at the helm, it would be passing us up at the same speed that it is presently sinking.

When the cards have been dealt and the hand is being played…the wise man will put his money on Nick. InterNACHI is not an accident.

Now I’m not taking anything away from Marcel or Dan or Paul (each of whom have forgotten more than I’ll ever know about inspections), and we could probably get to where we want to be (making InterNACHI’s House of Horrors an international success) using actual InterNACHI home inspectors, but we’ll get there faster with the school administration skill set that Michael and Kevin bring to our membership.

I can’t. Thank you for providing even more evidence that I’m not letting anything cloud my thinking when it comes to doing what is best for InterNACHI members. These two guys are the best in the world at what they do, why not let them do it for us?

Any school limiting itself to ASHI members is doomed to fail. Imagine trying to operate a school for a small number of home inspectors who are convinced that they already know everything…and should all be teaching, not attending, classes.:roll:

Most of these ASHI members think that they should be awarded CEUs for simply talking to themselves. Their “brilliance” is self contrived and unrecognized outside of their own circles.

Harvard would go broke if it depended upon the morons holding ASHI membership to make up its student body.

Kaplan is the one that drove the school into the ground… right next to their real estate training, appraiser training and all the other schools they lumped into one complex.

Let’s not forget what skill sets I’m trying to acquire here. Being a great home inspector is like being a great cook… but it’s not the same as running a restaurant. Operating a international inspection school system requires a certain very specific, skill set.

Nick calls it an “Old” website, yet at the bottom it says copyright and then end date is 2011…can’t be that “old”…

Steven this is the school I was talking about, not the Kaplan school…They ran the ASHI school…and were ASHI leaders a while back. So I guess they were a part of the reason for the failure because of their lack of vision.

They never promoted NACHI (most likely because they couldn’t). But hey they made their decisions and Nick wanted “death to ASHI” and now bows down to them and makes them the leaders for all people wanting education. If you think teachers are not great influence, you’re 100% wrong.

So now we have people who never supported NACHI to lead people into our profession and want me to swallow that pill? Nope. I cannot have respect for people who bow to these people, give them postitions of great responsibility, possible influence newer inspectors when there are a TON of other guys who NEED to work and MIGHT be interested in the position, or MAYBE would have felt they were DUE an offer…

Me being relatively new to the organization there are people who give DAILY without pay and just because they are one hell of a guy. They could be spending time with their family and yet they are on the phone telling a new guy how to inspect a water heater. Now all of a sudden these two get PLEASE WELCOME…hell with them. Respect is earned not given…they have EARNED nothing…

I know that Nick does everything he can to benefit the Inspector. Good Inspectors come from all areas of Canada and United states and no matter what Inspection organization they come from they are welcome. There is strength in numbers and that is why InterNachi is so successful. I am going on 5 years with them and I am very glad they look for the best in the teachers of HI.
Since he has to sort out what is important for Canada and United States and portray those to inspectors it is a next to impossible to do this without professionals from other HI organizations.
"Mike Holmes Group is an example of what we don’t want in HI.
We need one set of standards of practice that will satisfy the majority.
InterNachi has this and all HI organizations agree with his kind of thinking.
Way to go InterNachi best move you could have made.
Just make sure you have an agreement that they will never compete with InterNachi or discredit new ones because of there position.

I am more likely to agree with your past views that A$HI members need to decide which organization they want to belong to and that A$HI members are indeed stupid, than agree with your last decision. I agree with Russ as in using our own great inspectors. I do not see how adding two A$HI teachers is a good thing for NACHI.

Sorry, but I agree with Russell. I’m pro-InterNachi and have been since day one. I promote it every day. Now ASHI is not the big kid on the block and they come to InterNachi. It’s just wrong.

I am all for education. Just why did you not use the people who have supported you all these years? Why did you bring in “Outsiders”? Why do you have to stroke your own and these tools ego so much? Why not help YOUR OWN? There is a TON of talent out there and you overlook them to help these two? Dan Bowers a strong grasp of inspecting who is in a huge down market. Marcel…wealth of knowledge who I think can use a break due to a horrible market. Why do you turn your back on them?

You know I have seen much in my life and when I was in Melbourne I was kind of excited to see you in action. The great Nick Gromicko the defender of the inspector. And like you I see much of what goes on when I am not directly looking. What did I see? You asking people for WEEKS to go eat dinner with them and hang out. What did you do? Sat at the table with these tools and never talked to your members until, what, about midnight? Do you guys need to stroke each others egos that much? You did it NICK…you grew the biggest home inspection organization in the world! Congrats! Now help those people who got you where you are at today.

I had the joy of being by the side of what I would consider some of the worlds greatest leaders and one of them being Colin Powell. When he wanted the pulse of the people he talked to the PEOPLE. When he went to functions he sat and talked with those who would not typically have the opportunity to do so. He didn’t sit with other high generals and talked about how great they were…thats for a different time and a different place. But then again, they received respect because of who they were. I got a glimpse of what you were…sitting at that table when about 30 of your members were sitting at the bar, kinda sad how you ignored them…But O’Malley and the Inspection Depot Owner were more important that your members, and your actions validate that thought.
