Check with you gas company. Some forms of plastic are made


just for natural gas, however, PVC is not one of them.

Appliance connectors from the stub out to the appliance (from 3' to 6' in length) can be another material ... corrugated copper or corrugated stainless steel.

This is all from from field experience and using IRC G2414 (CodeCheck too) as a guide.

Bottom line is that plastic piping inside, particularly exposed PVC gas piping, is a red flag in my book.
