reason for cracks appearing above windows in solid brick construction is a failing of the lintel

Answer "C"

there are 2 other answers that could apply but the best one has to be lintel issues, Here in New England we have a lot of 100 year old plus, brick structures, many of which have steel lintels above the windows and doors, very typically these have significant rusting, and have allowed 2-3 courses of brick above the appature to "drop".
