I was just thinking what a great cost-saving idea that was. Then I realized that nowadays, the coffee is probably $8.00 or $9.00 / lb. The 26 oz. can would be about $14.50, so you’d actually be better off buying a listed device.


I'm modifying my report boilerplate to reflect the possible cost savings, just in case I come-across any coffee can fixtures.

Seriously though, the use of home made unlisted electrical components can result in fire and shock hazards. Thanks to Joe T for sharing this photo in another thread ... it's another classic example of how much thought goes into doing things wrong ...
