I was performing a home inspection inside a house and I started in the kitchen, many of the appliances where turn off, i had the realtor with me at the inspection and the buyer was not there, the realtor started to flip on all the breakers, as a home inspector I will not turn on the breakers on the panel if they were already off, there must be a reason why those breakers were off, i would leave the breakers as it is, but it was not the inspector who turn those breakers on, it was the realtor, and then if something happen, who gets the blame, The Inspector right.
No. You are accountable for what you energize. Whenever you have a used house salesman stupid enough to flip breakers or turn on the water … take pictures of them doing it and go on with your inspection. Any damages they cause are on them.
