  1. Guessing you mean the “secondary” the final 240V leg we see to the weather head on a small building.

  2. Nearby, especially cloud-to-ground lightning will be a sharp clap. The lower frequency sound travels much farther, so that’s your rumble.

  3. You probably want 50psf. The relevant ICC table is 1607.1 but it’s regional. They’ll be a static load, live load and concentrated load spec. The real capacity for a deck is how many partying Irish students can fit.

  4. Hmm – an Alate or swarmer termite might fit that bill. Plenty of different type of termites, but only the swarmers are going to have wings & eyes.

  5. a & c (plus any Tacos on the roof)

Music) Man! I Feel like a Woman, Shania Twain

  2. Thunder claps are shock waves created by the rapid expansion of air after the formation of lightning. As it propagates, the shock waves attenuate, reflect and overlap, resulting in the transformation of thunder from a sharp clap to a low rumble.
  3. Residential Deck Live Load rating Minimum 40PSF with a design load of Minimum 40PSF - depending on region.
  4. Butterfly/Moth
  5. A&C (Not including the inspector who just ate Ohio Spicy Tacos)

The pretty close winner this week is Kevin Leonard

  1. The electrical grid is defined by many parts such as transmission & distribution.
What is the “last one” named?
    end user ~ consumer

2) Interesting enough, why is thunder a loud clap or a lower sounding rumble?
Thunder is essentially a Sonic Boom
Keep in mind that thunder is a compression, or shock wave…caused when lightning heats the air. A ‘clap’ comes from a single, straight lightning segment-often overhead. Rumbles, on the other hand, come from multiple bolts or branches of lightning that produce shock waves that arrive at different times. Keep in mind these shock waves are produced when the intense heat of lightning superheats air, causing it to expand faster than the speed of sound.
