Rafter spread?

What would cause rafters to spread this way??

Geometicly speaking, the walls would have to get closer.

They were cut that way when built. Slopy job not using at least a 1" ridge board. I can just see them fighting now trying to keep each pair of rafters from swaying. :):wink:

I think geometry applies most places, except possibly the deep south;-)
