Why are home inspectors able to give their clients an estimate of how much it will cost to get everything fixed? To me, this should not be allowed. They are not experts in the field of repairs. Different repair people charge different amounts. This is a practice that needs to stop. It gives an inflated idea of how much needs to be done. What do I need to do to end this practice?
Contact your home inspector regulatory board and state your case.
Don’t have a regulatory board?
You’re out of luck.
Look up the contractor laws in your state. Giving an estimate to do work may be controlled under those regulations.
A home inspector that gives an estimate could present the appearance of conducting a home inspection to further another business interest and is not allowed either.
Look up the word “estimate”.
