Reporting of recalled systems?

House & Home section of yesterday’s paper had a Q&A in which the purchaser of a home had determined that the house had Omega Sprinklers, which they wanted to know if the previous owner was obligated to disclose. The reply in part stated that if the purchaser had paid for a home inspection, it should have been included in the report.

Arizona (ASHI) standards specifically exclude the "observation" of fire suppression sprinklers which to me indicates that a home inspector may or may not report. On one hand I'm in favor of give the homeowner all the information I have available, on the other I can see litigation over reporting one recalled item, but not another (oven/range perhaps).

I'd like to hear some thoughts before I jot a note off to the author/attorney.

Thanks you.
