As Hurricane Milton approaches, we at InterNACHI® want to take a moment to express our concern for our members in the Southeastern U.S. Our thoughts are with you and your families during this challenging time, and we hope you stay safe.
InterNACHI® has compiled information and resources on disaster assistance, local shelters, and donation opportunities for disaster relief. We also provide guidance on how inspectors can help after the hurricane, along with additional information about the InterNACHI® rescheduled convention.
Thank you! I’m not entirely sure what you can manage for me, but I appreciate the thought.
As to the Hurricane,
I’m looking at 4-6 inches of rain, 35mph sustained, 65mph gusts.
The rain is no big deal here, this part of Florida is probably the best area in the country as far as storm water runoff planning goes. 10 inches before the golf courses flood and another 10 inches before it affects homes. We won’t see anywhere near that during this storm.
There is a mandatory evacuation for people in trailers. I’m in a block and stucco home with a hip roof that will shrug off 65mph winds without issue.
It started raining here about an hour ago. No wind at the moment.
Best wishes to everyone in the main path of this thing.
Yeah, I don’t expect this to be much of a storm for me.
I credit the fact that I bought a Yeti 65 and a bunch of storm preparation. Soon after, I noticed it the models tracking southward.
I also bought a nice dewalt light and charged up all my batteries. Once that was all here, the storm just gave up and aimed at other people
I’m not trying to make light of this though, it’s going to be tough on some folks. My former boss has a home on Holmes beach/Anna Marie Island as well as a place in the mangroves around Crystal River. I think both are going to have a bad run of it.
Stay safe down there! If you are like me, you will be standing by the window watching the storm roll in and taking pictures and video, lol. Please share!
