I was always a big fan of the song Mr. Crowley with a searing guitar solo from Randy Rhoads. Having said that the guitar solo work on Bark at the Moon by Jake E Lee or the solo by Zack Wylde on Momma I’m Coming Home both are equal to anything that Randy put down on a record. I saw Ozzy in concert back in January 1984. Motley Crue was the opener, great concert. RIP Ozzy.

I saw one of his shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on July 29, 1989, as part of his “No Rest for the Wicked” tour. The opening bands were Vixen and White Lion. The most memorable thing was that it poured rain most of the night with thunder and lightning.

I’ve been to a few Ozzy concerts in the 80’s, the one I remember most, my girlfriend’s Uncle owned/ran the concessions for the venue (Ohio State Fairgrounds) in Columbus, he gave us (often) free all access (not backstage, but everywhere else) passes where we could roam the crowd/venue anywhere we wanted. We went straight to the front of the stage. It was too loud! We moved back a ways, too loud. We went all the way to the back of the coliseum… it was still too LOUD! LOL Tried cig butts for ear plugs. Ended up leaving very early. Of the scores or hundreds of concerts/gigs I’ve been to, that’s the only one I remember leaving early.
RIP.

There are only a handful of Black Sabbath and Ozzy tunes I like, but the ones I like, I really like.
I found it fascinating how Ozzy sometimes wrote a song. He sometimes started with random vocalizations to get the sound he wanted before coming up with the lyrics.

I was 11 when this Black Sabbath song was released. I was probably 15 when I first “really” heard and was a Black Sabbath fan from the start. RIP Ozzy!

I got to see them in 1980 minus Ozzy and instead Ronnie James Dio for the Heaven And Hell tour. It was just awesome and LOUD!

A bunch of us needed a designated driver (DD) and were going to pay for his ticket, concessions, dinner, etc. Only had one taker as anyone going to the concert needed a designated driver! He was very religious and we made sure he understood where we were going and who was playing, etc.

The stage was pitch black and when it started the crosses burst into flames across the stage! Our DD freaked and looked like a deer in headlights. After 10 minutes he had to leave and wait for us in the car. We thought he understood what he was getting into.

Black Sabbath music was already awesome but after Ozzy left he made even greater music!
