Conduit can be used with NM for protection where it may be necessary, but as a general rule, NM should not be in conduit. However, as stated earlier, as long as the conduit-fill is not exceeded, it is not a prohibited practice.

Actually it’s required to be protected by conduit or other means when subject to physical damage. 334.15(B).

For conduit fill, NEC Chapter 9, Notes to the Tables #(9). This does not apply to short section of conduit used as a sleeve for protection of the cable.

There should have been a bushing or fitting on the end of the EMT to prevent abrasion of the cable sheath.

Good installation practices would require that, but you’d be hard pressed to find anything in any model code that requires that. If you called that out on an inspection report, I could make you look pretty foolish.

Marc, what about 300.15©?

I agree with Jim, that applies to a peice of conduit used for physical protection of the cable.
