Roof Truss Bracing

Hello,

Picture this......

A 4 unit town home with a contiguous roof system

In the attic, there is a truss system with plywood sheathing.

As per code there are solid fire barriers at the ends of each unit in the attic

but......

There are no horizontal / lateral supports running from one unit to the next (through the fire barrier)

In fact, what bracing there is in each units attic is not even connected to the barrier wall.

I have searched, but can not find if this is framed correctly?

And what does the solid fire barrier consist of.

A framed wall with sheetrock?

When I ran into a similar situation, I just contacted a local truss company representative and asked them about it. Perhaps you should consider doing the same.

Hi Erby,

You are correct, finished sheetrock.

What was the response you were given?

THANKS!

As long as the individual trusses in each attic were braced it was OK. There is no truss at the wall. It was a 2x4 wall with the top of the studs covered with a 2x4 laid falt.
