# safe practices of home inspector essay

This was a Lennox natural gas furnace that operates in a two car garage. Gas was on so i checked to see if pilot light was lit and good to go. Thermostat was located in hallway as i entered house through garage. Turn thermostat to auto heat and it fired almost immediately. Heat was coming through vent within 30 seconds. It needed a new air filter from sitting for a long period of time.

Glen, are you sure that unit had a pilot light? It would have to be very old as most modern units use electric ignitors.
